Mechanical Design Engineer

HAHN Plastics Automation, Inc. is designing, developing, and building high end automation for the plastic injection molding industry. We are a full-service, specialty machine builder—engineering, designing, developing, manufacturing, installing, and servicing custom automation solutions. The Mechanical Design Engineer will provide the technical input and documentation control necessary to ensure the expectations in the design of automation solutions meets the customer specifications. This includes the creation of quotes, presentation and the review of the quotes with customers, completing the mechanical design of the system, and design reviews with customers.

 

EDUCATION

Bachelor's Degree in a technical or engineering discipline.

EXPERIENCE

  • 1-5 years of experience as a mechanical design engineer in the plastics or automation industry.
  • Competence in the use and manipulation of 3D modeling software (SolidWorks) preferred
  • Experience in drawing creation for assemblies and details to include all dimentions, tolerances, and documentation to allow the manufacture and assembly of the design.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

    • This position requires knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel and Microsoft Project Manager or similar project management software.
    • Knowledge and experience of the plastic injection molding industry, experience designing automation or peripheral equipment in the plastics injection molding industry.
    • Analytical and decisive to define, evaluate and solve problems in an organized process.
    • Candidate must be able to work effectively on their own and as a team player.

      Field Service Technician

      HAHN Plastics Automation, Inc. is designing, developing, and building high end automation for the plastic injection molding industry. We are a full-service, specialty machine builder—engineering, designing, developing, manufacturing, installing, and servicing custom automation solutions. Our mission is to partner with customers as a premier provider of innovative, well-engineered manufacturing systems and solutions to enhance their competitive advantage.

      Position provides in depth customer service for operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and start-up for all automation systems sold by HAHN Plastics Automation (HP US). Must be able to troubleshoot equipment and system problems and issues, determine technical solution in accordance with product and customer specifications, and recommend actions to company and customer representatives for solution. Support will primarily be provided by traveling to customers’ locations. Furthermore, this position partially consists of working in our Windsor plant and helping with system buildups, customer FATs and other system startups and acceptance test.

       

      ESSENTIAL DUTIES

      • Prepare, modify, and test systems prior to shipment to customer
      • Provide start up service for HP US systems installed at customer facilities
      • Provide and support FATs and SATs.
      • Trouble-shooting, diagnosis and repair of equipment and system operation problems both remotely and on site.
      • Working unsupervised at our customers' facilities in an effective manner.
      • Extensive traveling throughout North America.
      • Maintaining a "Customer Friendly" attitude whenever dealing with customers.
      • Telephone trouble-shooting and assistance, including spare parts orders.
      • Lifting 50 pound machine components unassisted.
      • Install mechanical equipment and components safely using hand and power tools.
      • Train customers in the field in the operation of HP US equipment and systems.
      • Fill out field service reports, expense reports and time sheets in a timely fashion.
      • Maintain a log of service problems, review periodically with product managers, division manager and sales.
      • Create trouble shooting guides that address normal problems and frequently asked questions.
      • Provide technical support for national, regional and local trade shows.
      • Follow established company policy & guidelines.
      • Keep current on new products and technology for anything manufactured, sold and serviced by HP US.

       

      POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

      Requires direct experience in field service or 5+ years of experience troubleshooting industrial equipment.

      Education: Associate Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Technology preferred

      Experience: More than 5 years of experience in field service work preferred

       

      KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

       

      • This position requires familiarity with Microsoft Office products, and good mechanical/technical aptitude. Also, requires a working knowledge and experience in industrial electronics and mechanics.
      • Ability to manage priorities and work efficiently to keep up on workloads on a timely basis.

      Project Manager

      HAHN Plastics Automation, Inc. is designing, developing, and building high end automation for the plastic injection molding industry. We are a full-service, specialty machine builder—engineering, designing, developing, manufacturing, installing, and servicing custom automation solutions. Our mission is to partner with customers as a premier provider of innovative, well-engineered manufacturing systems and solutions to enhance their competitive advantage.

      For Project Management it includes, coordination of project tasks with all concerned parties (customer, vendors, contractors, HAHN Group members and sales representatives), project implementation, tracking costs, and successful completion of the project. This position will guide the project from quoting to sales order entry to final billing and customer acceptance. This position will also coordinate and manage shows and internal open houses.

       

      ESSENTIAL DUTIES

      • Review project documents (specifications and drawings, purchase order and sales order.) Resolve any open or unresolved issues with HAHN Group members and customers and Reps prior to commencement of a project.
      • Plan and create project schedule using Microsoft Project software or similar software. Produce Gantt chart outlining essential project tasks including appropriate predecessor tasks. Identify potential conflicts. Update schedule periodically and report changes to customer and team members.
      • Report on project progress at weekly production meetings, determine what actions may be necessary to keep project on track. Furnish project status reports to customers as required. May convene project review meetings as required.
      • Sit in production meeting to represent the project need and highlight schedule issues.
      • Visit job sites periodically to inspect work performed, verify percent of job completion, meet with customer, and resolve any complaints related to project execution.
      • Create and monitor an accurate project cost summary for each project that records actual and estimated project costs. Advise management when project cost variances may jeopardize projected project margin. Take necessary action to correct activities that will have a negative effect on project schedule or profitably.
      • Responsible for creating and distributing all project documents relating to commercial issues including Change Order Requests, Customer Acceptance Forms, FAT and SAT forms.
      • Will handle multiple projects concurrently.
      • Responsible for creating agenda for project meetings with customer.

       

      POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

      Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a technical or engineering discipline.

      Experience: Over five (5) years of experience as a project manager or in Sales in the plastics or automation industry. Fluent in English and Spanish preferred.

      Regional Sales Manager

      The Regional Sales Manager will provide the management of all aspects of sales of any of the HP US products or product lines as well as Project Management. On the sales side, this includes the creation of quotes, presentation and the review of the quotes with customers, negotiating the project and transferring the order into project management. Project Management includes, coordination of project tasks with all concerned parties (customer, vendors, contractors, HAHN Group members and sales representatives), project implementation, tracking costs, and successful completion of the project. This position will guide the project from quoting to sales order entry to final billing and customer acceptance. This position will also coordinate and manage shows and internal open houses.

       

      ESSENTIAL DUTIES

      • Developing and executing a sales strategies for WEMO products.
      • Developing a sales network (Representations) for WEMO products
      • Key Account Management for certain Waldorf Technik and GeKu customers.
      • Developing and executing a Marketing strategy for WEMO products.
      • Representing HP US at shows, summits and conferences by being a speaker at those events and organizing exhibitions.
      • Working with Reps and the customer on quotes. This includes identifying needs, capturing the full scope of the project, putting the quotes together, with full awareness of the cost.
